My wife's jealousy is getting ridiculous. The other day she looked at my calendar and wanted to know who May was. ~ Rodney Dangerfield

his position comes from an amusing game I saw on Geoff Chandler's redhotpawn blog. which you can read here: http://www.redhotpawn.com/blog/blogread.php?blogpostid=209

Today I would like to share a nice email that I got from Eric King.

Tim,

I have for years been on the look out for daily calenders with Tactics and was ecstatic when I saw that you guys published one.  I sent the link to my wife immediately with another want for Christmas (along with asking for  game board autographed by all six participants of the 2014 Sinquefield Cup).  And I received both.  Can't wait to start 2015 with a tactic everyday on my calender.

I also received for Christmas "Tactics Time".  First I want to thank you and Anthea and all the others involved for publishing such a great tactics book.  I know you have painstakingly been putting together all these games over the years and think it s great that your efforts are paying off.  Looking on your Final Thoughts page I found my name listed under the Acknowledgements with much surprise.  I know I have sent you a few games in the past and have seen you use them in your news letter with credit to me.  Assuming that there isn't another Eric King that has been sending you games, I want to thank you for mentioning me in your book.

I see that Tactics Time 2 is just coming out so I assume you will have more coming.  I am sure you have thousands of games coming your way, but I will send some more of mine if your interested.  I was without a computer for a while, but have one now, so sending pgn files will be easier.

Thanks again for your contribution to chess literature and keep up the good work.

   Tim's response:

   Thanks Eric!

Glad that you like the 2015 Chess Calendar and were able to get a copy of the Tactics Time paperback!

Tactics Time 2 is coming out in paperback very soon - (January 7, 2015), http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/9056915371/tag=tacti-20 so I am really looking forward to that!

We have a few more calendars as well if anyone else wants to start the new year with one tactic per day!  http://tacticstime.com/s/2015-daily-chess-calendar/

I appreciate all of the people who post games, and send me games.  I could not do it without people such as yourself!

If anyone else wants to send me a game (or collection of games), please feel free to do so anytime.  They don't have to contain "brilliant" tactics - the normal "meat and potatoes" tactics are great too!

   Answer:

4.Bd6 traps the White Queen.  This game cracked me up, and I found it amusing.

   Happy Tactics!

   Your Friend,
