   Answer below.

Today I would like to wish a HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY to my dear friend and Tactics Time co-author ANTHEA CARSON!

Anthea and I have worked on lots of fun different projects over the years.  We have done YouTube videos together, recorded podcasts, written books, helped other authors promote their books, etc.

We have traveled to tournaments together, and played lots of games against each other (Anthea is by far my most common opponent, although we have not been paired against each other recently).

Anthea is a chess die hard.  She has played in hundreds of tournaments, http://www.uschess.org/msa/MbrDtlTnmtHst.php?12614322

We have very similar senses of humor.  We both find it hilarious for example when Anthea beats Paul Anderson (which happens way more than it should statistically).  Here is one of Paul's newsletter's featuring an Anthea win: http://cschess.webs.com/apps/blog/show/2929013-shoo-fly-shoo-

Anthea has been an amazing friend to me.  She is incredibly honest and has a lot of wisdom backed by life experiences.  She is very understanding and has helped me tremendously when I have had personal struggles with alcohol, and with relationships, and things off of the chess board.

Anthea is always on the cutting edge.  She has a lot of creative ideas, and she has a very high "speed of implementation", which is a quality I admire.  She was selling kindle books before most people even knew how to do that.  She is never afraid to try new things.

The above position, for example, features a common tactic in the Budapest Defense.  I said to Anthea recently, "Oh I didn't know you played the Budapest!" and she said "Yes!  You were the one who recommended it to me!".

Today is the "Tri Lakes Open" in Monument (http://www.coloradochess.com/newtourn.shtml#832), and should be a good time!  Anthea is taking a bye in round 2, so she can see Buck Buchanan perform in Hamlet, so it should be a fun birthday!

Anthea's handle on twitter is @ChessAnimal if you want to follow her and wish her a happy birthday!

   Answer:

Anthea used a common tactical trick in the Budapest, 6...Bxf2+! which is a very good one to know.

If 7.Kxf2 Ng4+ 8.Ke1 Qxg5 and Black is up a pawn with a nice position.  White can't castle, etc.

If 7.Kd1 or 7.Kd2, Black is just up a pawn for nothing.

   Happy Tactics!

   Your Friend,

P.S. Tactics Time 2 is coming out in about a month in paperback!  Anthea and I are very excited to see it!!  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/9056915371/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=9056915371&linkCode=as2&tag=tacti-20&linkId=TS24EC75I7RJEROO
