Shark Week 2014

I know you're scared. I'm scared too. They're sharks. They're scary. No one wants to get eaten. But I've been eaten. And I'm here to tell you it takes a lot more than to bring a good man down. A lot more that to bring a New Yorker down. [cuts a falling shark in half with the chainsaw] ~ Fin Shepard, in the movie Sharknado 2: The Second One

   Happy Shark Week!!

This is my second year in a row doing a Tactics Time Shark Week newsletter!

In case you missed it, or want to read it again, here is my newsletter from last year's Shark Week: http://archive.aweber.com/tacticstime/5nFUY/h/Tactics_Time_Chess_Newsletter_.htm

Interestingly, the current USCF Champions are the Miami Sharks!

Here is a picture of their logo...

Around this time last year, they won the USCL Championship 3.5 - 0.5 against the New York Knights.  You can read a nice report of their victory here: http://www.chess.com/news/miami-sharks-win-first-uscl-title-9082

The new USCL season will be starting soon.  The Sharks have their first game on August 26.  You can learn more about the USCL here: http://uschessleague.com/

Answer: 54. h6 is a "pin it and win it" on the Knight on g7.  On the previous move Black played 53...c5, missing this one move threat, and needed to play 53...Kf6 or 53...gxh5 to prevent this.

   Happy Tactics!

   Your Friend,

P.S. If you haven't seen the movie "Sharknado 2: The Second One" yet, I HIGHLY recommend it.  I watched it last week, and it was the hardest I have laughed all summer.  It is so stupid, but I really got a kick out of it.  Tara Reid even retweeted me after I told her how much I loved it :-) https://twitter.com/TacticsTime/status/496474368873332736
